About Me
- Favorite Medium: mixed media
- Statement: I am constantly asking myself who my influences areWhere does my inspiration come from? When will I wake up and have nothing...No more ideasÂ…No more stories to tell?My work is from within, yet the contributing factors from the world around us make my stories open to universal interpretation. I work with a combination of materials including cast-offs and leftovers from both my life and the lives of others. This medium lends itself to storytelling, revealing memories and creating histories. The objects already have their own histories. They contain memory. I add to this my personal history and through my artwork document events of life, especially those pertaining to matters of heart and soul. Drawing on my own experiences and interests I use my work as a way of relating my stories, questions and conflicts to the world.Through the manipulation of objects, I document events of life, challenging myself to look deeper into daily routines and experiences, analyzing conversations and interactions with students, family, friends, coworkers, and strangers. We as humans are nostalgic, we crave the past yet thrive in the present. We end our day and look for someone to share the days' experiences with. Time is spent reviewing diary and journal entries from long forgotten events of our lives. I choose to document my life by making tactile objects with memories and histories.
