About Me
- Favorite Medium: sculpture
- Statement: J.Mac is a Canadian sculptor whose work encompasses the human element. Through the sculptural medium she reflects what she sees around her whether it be the politics of living, social ramifications of the environment, or humour derived from our human fragilities. J. Mac's current series uncovers the truth behind our most intimate interpersonal relationships. By casting her forms in fiberglass she creates a base where she can apply rope or nails to its surface to create the desired effect. Her art has been shown in Canada, USA, Europe and South East Asia. J.Mac has won many awards and her work is included in numerous corporate collections in Canada and the Philippines. Most recently, J.Mac was chosen as one of three artists to represent Canada at ARTiade 2004 - Olympics of Visual Art, which ran in conjunction with the XXVIII Olympic games in Athens. Last year J.Mac was elected as one of two artists to represent the Canadian Sculptors Society in the 1st Beijing Biennale. Her sculptures were also shown at the Biennale DÂ’Arte Contemporanea, Rome, Italy and the Biennale Internazionale DellÂ’Arte Contemporanea Firence Italy in 2003.
