Statement: Heidi Hybl employs dynamic compositional elements and symbolic shapes and images. She acknowledges a debt to the physicality of the expressionistic painters and the multiconscious approach of the surrealists.These paintings are from a body of work called ""Directions"". Painted lines predominate. Sketches of trees and plants were executed quickly, abstracting the form in the process. Transcribing the spontaniety of those sketches, while greatly enlarging their size amd adding color, was the focus of this work.
