About Me
- Favorite Medium: paintings
- Statement: All my work starts said ends with drawing. From the first vague idea to the last brush stroke it is drawing. Starting with the object as a model I draw the object on the painting panel in pencil or ink or some combination of fine drawing media. The drawing is seen as a materializing of:(1) proportion (the relationship of each part of the object to all its other parts);(2) direction, or movement (how the form of the object ""moves"" or occupies three-dimensional space);(3) feeling for the form (the awareness and expression of the object as a form occupying three-dimensional space). The drawing is continued in paint and color in order to finish the work of graphically describing three-dimensional form.Whatever meaning the painting, the drawing, might have is derived directly from its illusion as a three-dimensional object in three-dimensional space. The object itself is loaded with meanings, connotations: literal or concrete, abstract, literary, symbolic, allegorical. What ever the viewer my make of this drawing, this painting dependents a lot on what the viewer brings to the object, and to the painting of the object.
